POPE PIUS II

Pope Pius II did many things during his reign that impacted the

lives of the people.

Before being Pope, Pius II (Aeneas Silvius

Piccolomini) was a well known poet and writer.

He made many works of literature which

influenced other people to write.

In the year 1460, he founded a university

which lasted four centuries. After a few years,

the university developed a press in which they

 would publish theological and scholastic

literature. This had a large impact on the people,

because the people had a university in which to

study that a Pope had created. Later, in 1461,

he declared that the highest priests in

the church be reformed. A later part of this reformation was

taking away the compactata. Pius II declared it pointless. This

did away with communion of both kinds. This impacted the

church, because this was the first instance in which

communion was prohibited. When Pius II looked into the fight

against the Turks. He gathered the entire christian army and

selected a leader to march in the front of the army when they

fought battles. Pius II had such an impact on the people that

his home city, corsignano, was renamed Pienza after his

death.
